This is not structural and can be easily removed with a dremel or other small cutting tool. And also some 2001 and 2002 Explorers and Mountaineers have a different mounting system. They use bolt-on brackets at the bottom of the unit.

Yours has the bottom brackets. This radio is used and it is in good condition. We have tested it and it works properly. Try to get that from most of the other sellers out here!! Ford radios are extremely easy to install.
